About Us

Welcome to the Association of Otolaryngologists in Training

The AOT is an organisation that represents all Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery trainees throughout the UK and throughout their training careers. We are independent and are run by trainees for trainees. All ENT trainees in the UK are automatically members and there is no fee to be a member of the AOT.

The AOT was formed many years ago by a group of senior registrars in ENT. As a collection of individuals we have grown quickly in number in recent years partly due workforce changes and partly to changes in the structure of training. We currently number approximately 350.

The AOT puts forward the views of its membership through representation on the councils and committees of ENT-UK, Specialist Advisory Committee in Otolaryngology, Education and Training Committee, the Intercollegiate Exam Board, the Royal Society of Medicine sections, the Association of Surgeons in Training, and many other groups.

We meet once a year to discuss current issues in ENT. We welcome all ENT trainees to attend the AOT conference. Please follow the link to learn more about the conference this year.

If you do have questions about your training, firstly choose the most appropriate person for the job: look under AOT Officers or contact your Regional Representatives(see below) as some problems may well have been discussed before. If you have information on training opportunities that you would like to share feel free to post on the Forum.

We are happy to advertise free courses / materials to our membership at no cost; any materials that incur cost however will incur an advertising fee.

If you would like to become involved then we welcome you to the AOT conference. You could offer to represent the AOT either regionally or on one of the committees / councils. Alternatively just contribute to the forum, discussion group and occasional survey.
